In Google Earth, you can visit AWF's conservation programs and see where we work and how we're making a difference.

The African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) is thrilled to announce a new partnership with Google Earth, which allows people from around the world to explore the African continent and AWF's conservation programs through Google Earth's 3D satellite maps.

Google Earth logoGoogle Earth (www.earth.google.com) is an exciting web-based tool that combines satellite imagery, maps, and web links to generate a powerful visualization of our world on your computer. And it's free!

Google Earth can be used to show — not just talk about — places, environmental change, human impact, and wildlife phenomena.

Join AWF and take a virtual safari to some of Africa’s wildest regions — the African Heartlands. See profiles and photos of the Heartlands and discover how the AWF works to empower local communities, protect vast landscapes, and conserve Africa’s wildlife like lions, elephants and gorillas.

  • Soar over Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest peak, and see where GPS-collared elephants are roaming around its base.
  • Snake your way down the mighty Zambezi River, learning about AWF's work with sustainable fisheries.
  • Find your next safari destination by exploring one of AWF's new ecolodges, which benefit local communities and promote wildlife conservation.
  • See where the endangered mountain gorillas live, high in the Virunga mountains.
