Officer, Foundation & Corporate Relations

The Officer, Foundation and Corporate Relations serves as primary support for the Director, Foundation and Corporate Relations. This position entails coordination of development strategies including research, grant proposal writing, grant reporting and other activities related to identifying, cultivating and soliciting major contributions from private foundations and corporations. The Officer, Foundation and Corporate Relations is a liaison with AWFs philanthropy, program design, program, finance and administration and marketing departments to ensure a seamless and unified approach for achieving fundraising targets. Duties also include involvement in stewardship of donor relationships and maintaining a proposal/reports calendar. The preferred candidate will have a minimum of 1-2 years experience in a nonprofit development role.

Program Design Officer

AWF currently seeks to hire a qualified and enthusiastic Program Design Officer (PDO) to be based in Livingstone, Zambia with frequent travel to Lusaka and to the field work sites across Zambia and more widely. The PDO will be responsible, in close collaboration with the Senior Director for Programme Design and Knowledge Management, for raising funds from bi- and multi-lateral government donors, and for major aspects of donor relationship management, for AWF’s work in Southern Africa, particularly with a focus on its Zambezi and Kazungula Heartlands (includes areas of Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Botswana and Namibia). This position will work closely the Regional Director and field based implementation teams, as well as the other members of the nine person Programme Design team and will report directly to the Vice President Program Design and Knowledge Management.

Climate Change Program Manager

AWF currently seeks to hire a Climate Change Manager to be based in its Headquarter Offices in Nairobi. Reporting to the Chief Scientist and Lands Director, this position will lead the AWF Climate Change Program and manage the technical design, funding and implementation of a portfolio of climate change monitoring, mitigation and adaptation projects. S/he will participate in strategic, national and international climate change policy processes and prepare written technical reports for internal and external audiences.

Internship Program

AWF periodically has openings for interns in our Washington, DC office to assist in our Communications, Development, Program, Membership, Finance, Human Resources and Administration departments. AWF provides a platform for interns to expand their knowledge of African conservation issues, apply academic knowledge in real life situations, and learn new skills that will enhance their careers.

Interns have the flexibility to work up to a maximum of 40 hours depending on the organization's needs and the students' schedule.
