Roan antelopes commonly fight among themselves for dominance of their herd, brandishing their horns while both animals are on their knees.

AWF 50th Anniversary Scrapbook

AWF in November 2010 kicked off its 50th Anniversary Year, unveiling special commemorative articles and member engagements in our publications and other communications. Started in 1961 by a small group of U.S. naturalists, AWF today has impactful programs in 14 countries in three main regions of Africa. There is no way to summarize 50 years of conservation impact in this online scrapbook, but here we offer a few highlights that we think are indicative of how much we have accomplished.
